Closed Captioning

The CAB’s Closed Captioning Manual was approved in principle by both the CAB's Television and Specialty and Pay Boards at their last meeting in October 2002, and is designed to establish English-language closed captioning standards acceptable to all stakeholders - the caption consumers, the caption creators and private broadcasters - in order to ensure the uniform and consistent application of these standards across the Canadian captioning industry. The CAB encourages all of its English-language broadcasters to make full use of the captioning practices and procedures outlined in the manual.
