Claire Schofield new CAB Vice-President, Communications

OTTAWA, November 5, 1996 -- Michael McCabe, President & CEO of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Schofield as Vice-President, Communications, effective December 9.

Schofield has extensive experience in communications, marketing and media relations, both on the national and international fronts. She comes to the CAB from the Ottawa Tourism and Convention Authority (OCTA) where, since 1994, she has been Director of Communications. Under her creative direction, OCTA's media coverage more than doubled.

From 1992 to 1994, Schofield was responsible for Tourism Marketing and Communications at the National Gallery of Canada. Her many achievements included developing and implementing effective communications' and marketing programs and enhancing government relations at the international, federal, provincial and local levels. Her efforts increased the Gallery's profile and media coverage and bolstered visitor count and revenues.

Prior to that, she was Public Relations Account Supervisor for The Fontayne Group, Los Angeles, California, where she played a key role in broadening the company's major accounts. Her responsibilities included media launches, program planning and organizing media interviews for senior government officials.

Fluent in English, French and German, she has a winning track record in media relations, marketing and public relations.
