CTV's Lloyd Robertson wins broadcasting's top award

OTTAWA, February 21, 1996 -- Ace CTV news anchor Lloyd Robertson, for many years voted 'most trusted TV journalist' by TV Guide readers, has won private broadcasting's 1996 Gold Ribbon Award for Broadcast Excellence.

Honoring 'truly outstanding service to Canadian private broadcasting', the prestigious award will be presented at the first Annual Broadcast Excellence Dinner, May 15, 1996, Chateau Laurier Hotel, Ottawa.

Hosted by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), the gala event will celebrate Robertson's remarkable 44 years in radio and television, highlighted by a video presentation of career milestones and achievements.

A certain sell-out, the dinner is shaping up as Ottawa's major social event of the spring season. In attendance will be prominent politicians and regulators, senior government officials, leading broadcasters, and many on-air personalities.

He has anchored CTV for the Gulf War, Royal weddings, Papal visits, state funerals and many elections, referendums and leadership races. He co-anchored CFTO, Toronto's 'Hospital for Sick Children Telethon' for 11 years.
