GOLDEN WILL, THE SILKEN LAUMANN STORY

Canadian Premiere on the Baton Broadcasting System Wednesday, June 26, 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. EST

"Proudly Canadian though it may be, the story has already proven itself universal. ... There's been a lot of positive reaction to it from around the world." Tralee Pearce, TV Critic, The Ottawa Sun, June 24, 1996.

"Golden Will: The Silken Laumann Story is a very, very Canadian TV movie. ... To begin with it's a Canadian story, told with an entirely Canadian cast ... by a well-known Canadian writer, on a Canadian-sized $2.2-million budget that was raised entirely in Canada. ... Golden Will is meant to be - and largely is - uplifting, heroic, patriotic and, above all, entertaining. Tony Atherton, The Ottawa Citizen, June 23, 1996.

BATON BROADCASTING INCORPORATED is pleased to announce the Canadian premiere of GOLDEN WILL, THE SILKEN LAUMANN STORY, starring Nancy Anne Sakovich, Dylan Neal and Kate Trotter as Romi Laumann, on BBS and syndicated stations across Canada. Produced by Carol Reynolds Productions in association with Baton Broadcasting Inc., this dramatic two-hour movie chronicles the tale of a young woman whose life of challenge and adversity is transformed into courageous triumph.

According to Ivan Fecan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for BBS, "The story of Silken Laumann is a remarkable one. But what's also remarkable is the fact that this movie is a prototype and the dawn of a great new Baton tradition. It shows that Canadian resources and talent can come together to tell great Canadian stories that the world will want to watch."

Says Reynolds, "GOLDEN WILL tells a Canadian story and paints a dream the world will share as Silken competes for gold in Atlanta on July 27. Entirely financed in Canada, this independent film is proof that with the backing of the private sector and broadcasters like Baton, inspiring original Canadian stories with international appeal can be told." GOLDEN WILL, THE SILKEN LAUMANN STORY has been sold to the Disney Channel and will air across the United States on June 28, 1996.

GOLDEN WILL, THE SILKEN LAUMANN STORY is a Carol Reynolds Production in association with Baton Broadcasting Inc., with assistance from The Cable Production Fund, Ontario Film Investment Program, Telefilm Canada and with the participation of Rogers Telefund and Alliance Communications Corporation. Carol Reynolds is Executive Producer; Adam Haight, Producer and Glenn Morley, Composer. Eric Till is the Director.

'Golden Will, The Silken Laumann Story' is another example of how Canada's private broadcasters are working hard to ensure a strong Canadian voice on the information highway.
