Relief Efforts for Disaster
in South and Southeast Asia

The devastating tsunami that struck south and southeast Asia on December 26, which has claimed an estimated 150,000 lives, with thousands still missing, has initiated an unprecedented outpouring of support and generosity from around the world.

As has been our tradition in the past, private broadcasters are already using the airwaves not only to inform listeners and viewers about where and how they can contribute, but are also donating air-time to co-ordinated relief efforts. By using the power of the media with on-air appeals to help victims of this natural disaster, private broadcasters are playing a vital role in giving a helping hand to those most in need. The CAB applauds its members’ ongoing commitment to serving their local and worldwide communities and encourages all broadcasters to continue these important efforts.

Click here to send us information on what your organization is doing both on and off the air so that they can be shared within the industry. Swapping ideas will help broadcasters, regardless of market size, undertake initiatives in support of the victims of this disaster.
